Griseofulvin is an oral antifungal tablet that prevents the growth and spread of the fungus that can cause athlete’s foot. It’s usually not a first-line treatment for athlete’s foot, and is typically prescribed if topical treatments haven’t worked – or if your case is particularly persistent.
How does Griseofulvin work?
Griseofulvin works by stopping the growth and spread of the fungus responsible for athlete’s foot. It doesn’t kill the fungus directly, but interferes with the mitosis of the fungus – the process by which it splits, multiplies, and spreads.[1]
How do Griseofulvin doses work?
Griseofulvin is available in two doses, 125 mg tablets, and 500 mg tablets. It’s usually the 500 mg tablet that you’ll be prescribed to clear up athlete’s foot infections.

How to take Griseofulvin
